I took this quick selfie for a friend of mine whom I haven’t seen in a while. She didn’t believe me when I said I was blonde again.
If you know me, you know I love to change my hair. I’ve been from blonde to black with pinks purples and fire engine red in between. I’ve been from a pixie cut to hair down to my waist.
It’s amazing all the wonderful things we have to decorate ourselves with. If you look at yourself as a blank canvas that you can mold and paint and adorn any way you feel it makes getting dressed in the morning so much more fun!
I remember sitting in a salon reading a popular fashion magazine when I came across an article that said, “dress your age” I was intrigued so I went on to read and they were literally telling me what I should and should not wear as a 40+ year old woman. Then right on the next page was another article telling me what products I should use on my skin to appear younger. Well I thought, if my skin looks like I’m in my 30’s but I have to dress my age doesn’t that defeat the purpose?
This is when I made a pact with myself that despite what others think or what the media tells me I should be, I am going to adorn and adore my body and wear what brings me the most joy.
I feel that we take our bodies and appearances way too seriously. It’s your baby put a bow on it.
